  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup water or chicken broth
  • 2 green onions (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Marinate the chicken thighs in the mixture for at least 30 minutes (up to overnight in the fridge).
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the marinated chicken thighs skin-side down for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Turn the chicken over and add the remaining marinade along with water or broth to the pan. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes until chicken is cooked through. Remove lid during the last few minutes to thicken the sauce.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.
