- 4 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, divided
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F or prepare a grill for medium heat.
- Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon.
- In a bowl, combine oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon.
- Cut cold butter into the oat mixture using a fork until crumbly.
- Divide apple mixture among 4 large squares of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
- Top each apple mound with a generous spoonful of the oat crumble.
- Fold foil to seal packets, leaving a slight pocket of air at the top.
- Bake or grill for 20-25 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden.
