Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch cake pans with parchment liners.
- Whisk flour, both cocoa powders, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
- Beat eggs, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla in a separate bowl until smooth.
- Fold wet ingredients into dry ingredients using a spatula until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Cream softened butter, powdered sugar, and black cocoa; add heavy cream for consistency.
- Frost the first layer, top with the second, and cover the entire cake in black frosting.
