- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb elbow macaroni
- 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3 cups whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions, but drain it 1 minute early. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add butter to the skillet and melt. Stir in flour and cook for 2 minutes to create a roux.
- Slowly whisk in milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
- Turn heat to low and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until completely melted.
- Fold in the cooked macaroni and stir until evenly coated. Serve immediately.
