Ingredients

  • 4 cups pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the pitted cherries with 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch until coated.
  2. Pour the cherry mixture into the bottom of a greased slow cooker.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Stir in the melted butter and milk until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the batter in dollops over the cherries, leaving some fruit visible.
  6. Cover and cook on Low for 6-8 hours or High for 3-4 hours until the topping is set and bubbling.
