- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 8-inch cake pans with butter and cocoa powder.
- Cream softened butter and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients, alternating with milk, until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
- While cake cools, melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir in heavy cream and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
- Frost cooled cake layers and pour warm caramel over the top.
