- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Gel food coloring (orange and purple)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk melted butter and granulated sugar for the brownie base, then stir in eggs and vanilla.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt, stirring until just combined.
- Spread the brownie batter evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In a separate bowl, cream softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla, then fold in flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in chocolate chips and divide the cookie dough into three portions.
- Add food coloring to two of the portions and leave one plain.
- Dollop the different colored doughs on top of the brownie layer and swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the edges are set.
- Cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
