Description

This quick and easy Air Fryer Lava Cake recipe delivers a warm, gooey chocolate center encased in a perfectly baked outer layer. Ready in under 20 minutes, it’s an ideal dessert for satisfying sweet cravings with minimal effort using an air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together either in the microwave using short bursts or over a double boiler. Stir well until smooth and let the mixture cool slightly to avoid cooking the eggs in the next step.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy, ensuring the sugar is incorporated.
  3. Gradually stir the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture. Then add the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Mix gently but thoroughly until the batter is smooth and uniform.
  4. Grease two small ramekins with butter or a non-stick cooking spray. Divide the batter evenly between the ramekins, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the filled ramekins inside the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and firm but the center remains soft and gooey.
  6. Allow the lava cakes to cool for a few minutes to set slightly. Run a knife around the edges and carefully invert each ramekin onto a serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm, optionally paired with vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
