Description
This quick and easy Air Fryer Lava Cake recipe delivers a warm, gooey chocolate center encased in a perfectly baked outer layer. Ready in under 20 minutes, it’s an ideal dessert for satisfying sweet cravings with minimal effort using an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together either in the microwave using short bursts or over a double boiler. Stir well until smooth and let the mixture cool slightly to avoid cooking the eggs in the next step.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and slightly frothy, ensuring the sugar is incorporated.
- Gradually stir the melted chocolate and butter mixture into the egg mixture. Then add the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Mix gently but thoroughly until the batter is smooth and uniform.
- Grease two small ramekins with butter or a non-stick cooking spray. Divide the batter evenly between the ramekins, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Place the filled ramekins inside the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and firm but the center remains soft and gooey.
- Allow the lava cakes to cool for a few minutes to set slightly. Run a knife around the edges and carefully invert each ramekin onto a serving plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm, optionally paired with vanilla ice cream for extra indulgence.
