Description

A savory, high-protein breakfast casserole prepared the night before and baked in the morning. Featuring sharp cheddar and fresh broccoli for a balanced, hearty start to the day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350F (175C).
  2. Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish with melted butter to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until smooth and pale.
  4. Fold in the finely chopped broccoli and 1.5 cups of the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese over the top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 8 hours).
  7. Remove the foil and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let the bake rest for 10 minutes before slicing into squares.
