- 4–5 lb pork shoulder (butt)
- 1 can (12 oz) cherry cola
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Rub the spice mixture thoroughly into all sides of the pork shoulder.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the pork until browned on all sides.
- Place the seared pork into the slow cooker.
- Pour the cherry cola and apple cider vinegar around the meat.
- Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4-5 hours.
- Remove pork to a tray and shred with two forks.
- Simmer the remaining slow cooker liquid in a pan until reduced by half, then pour over the shredded meat.
