A sweet and savory twist on pulled pork using cherry cola to tenderize the meat and create a rich, glossy glaze. Effortless and crowd-pleasing.


Ingredients

  • 45 lb pork shoulder (butt)
  • 1 can (12 oz) cherry cola
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Rub the spice mixture thoroughly into all sides of the pork shoulder.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the pork until browned on all sides.
  4. Place the seared pork into the slow cooker.
  5. Pour the cherry cola and apple cider vinegar around the meat.
  6. Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4-5 hours.
  7. Remove pork to a tray and shred with two forks.
  8. Simmer the remaining slow cooker liquid in a pan until reduced by half, then pour over the shredded meat.
