Description

A succulent whole roasted turkey stuffed with savory bread cubes and basted with a rich garlic-herb compound butter for maximum moisture and flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12–14 lb whole turkey, thawed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 cup bread cubes
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 stalks celery, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325F (165C).
  2. Remove giblets and pat the turkey completely dry with paper towels.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened butter with minced garlic, chopped sage, and rosemary until smooth.
  4. Sauté onion and celery in olive oil until translucent; stir in bread cubes to create the stuffing.
  5. Rub a portion of the garlic butter inside the turkey cavity and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Loosely pack the stuffing into the cavity.
  7. Gently lift the breast skin and spread garlic butter directly onto the meat, then rub the remaining butter over the exterior skin.
  8. Place turkey on a roasting rack in a pan and roast until the breast reaches 165F and the thigh reaches 175F.
  9. Remove from oven and let the turkey rest for 30 minutes before carving.
