Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons finely grated parmesan cheese
- 8 slices bread
- 6–8 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 2 oz pepperoni slices
Instructions
- In a small bowl, soften the butter by stirring until smooth. Add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and grated parmesan cheese, then mix thoroughly to combine the flavors evenly.
- Spread the seasoned butter mixture evenly on one side of each bread slice. Place the slices butter side down on a cutting board to prepare for assembling the sandwich.
- Evenly divide and spread pizza sauce on the unbuttered side of the bread. Next, sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the sauce. Place pepperoni slices on 4 of the bread slices, then top with the remaining bread slices, butter side out, to form 4 sandwiches.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add as many sandwiches as can fit comfortably (typically 3 in a 12-inch skillet). Cook for about 4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side until golden and the cheese melts. Use a lid on the pan if needed to help the cheese melt evenly.
- Remove from the skillet and serve the pizza grilled cheese sandwiches immediately while warm and melty.
