Description

A fragrant and warming red wine infusion simmered with tart cranberries, aromatic star anise, and traditional winter spices.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (Merlot or Zinfandel)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 star anise pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 1 orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Pour the red wine into a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and orange slices to the wine.
  3. Stir in the honey or brown sugar until completely dissolved.
  4. Add the fresh cranberries to the mixture.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 20-30 minutes. Do not let the wine reach a boil.
  6. Taste the wine and add more sweetener if the cranberries make it too tart.
  7. Strain through a sieve or use a slotted spoon to remove spices and fruit before pouring into mugs.
